Git tools that arent part of your editor are usually either special-purpose, or useless. By far the most-used git UI tools that I see professionals using are the plugins for IntelliJ, emacs, VS, vscode, etc. A distant, distant, second place to magit is vscodium with gitlens. There are some things that are faster to do on the CLI, and some things faster to do in the GUI. Squashing is faster in the GUI, and then updating the commit message. But seeing the commit tree is probably the most useful in the GUI - just a glance to see if I need to rebase. I still use the CLI a bit but I cant recommend lazygit enough. So I would suggest you try out a few diffetent tools, and find the application that where you can do most of your workflow the easiest, and just use the standard git cli for edge cases. ![]() However, it is a matter of taste what is best for you level 1 2 points 8 months ago bash.
